This is such a great post Michelle. I've worked in the medical field for over a decade and now I work as a weight and life coach for women and from experience, I can say, without a doubt, that people want to feel good in the moment, and this is why death does not scare people into action if something pleasurable (like a piece of chocolate cake) is the alternative. Human nature is to seek pleasure and avoid pain, so the real question is how does a person associate what "feels" pleasurable with pain. I have found that creating a strong and compelling vision and rehearsing it daily helps my clients say no when they would have usually said yes. It's the little decisions that we make every day that can dramatically change the trajectory of our lives.
