You treat them as if they are not mature enough to deal with a "No." You coddle and baby them instead of treating them like an equal. Or, at least, it makes it easier for me to say what it is that I have to say and don't want to. Whether it's 'no' or 'you are in my way'. Maybe it makes me sound tentative, but I would rather sound tentative than stay quiet. It took me a while to learn that, but it's true.
